In Myanmar People Go to the Polling Place for Elections

About 7,000 candidates are vying for a total of 1171 national and local seats in the Myanmar election, of which 37 million voters will vote, 5 million for the first time.

After ruling the military in Myanmar for so long, people went to the polls for the second democratic election.

About 7,000 candidates are vying for a total of 1171 national and local seats in the Myanmar election, of which 37 million voters will vote, 5 million for the first time.

More than 90 political parties in the country participated in the election race. The National Unity Party for Democracy (NLD), led by the 75-year-old Myanmar Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Presidency (NLD), and the military-backed Union for Solidarity and Development (USDP) are expected to take a majority.

It is expected that the country's ethnic groups' support for the NLD will diminish in this election, as Aung San Suu Kyi remains silent on human rights violations against the Rohingya and fails to fulfill its constitutional reform promises.

In this case, it is possible that the ruling party lost its parliamentary majority alone and sought a coalition with one of the ethnic-based parties.
